My August Fix

Hey y'all! I know it's been a while, but I'm back! It has been a crazy few months, but I just received my first StichFix box and thought it would be a perfect opportunity to get back into the swing of blogging. 

This has been my first experience with SitchFix, and let me just say that I was not disappointed. My first box was right on the money. If you have never tried StitchFix or never heard about it, let me fill you in. StitchFix is a subscription box that delivers clothes, shoes, and accessories right to your door. For a $20 fee, you get a personal stylist that hand-picks pieces for you based on a style quiz that you fill out. You get five items in your box, and you decide what to keep and what to send back. When you decide to keep an item, your $20 styling fee is taken out of the price of that item. For example, say you love a top in your box, and it costs $30. You pay $10 for it when you check out. And if you love your entire box, you get to apply your styling fee and a 25% discount to the total!

Last week was my 26th birthday. To be honest, I wasn't too excited about getting closer to 30. Then, I snapped out of it. I realized that just because I'm an adult now and getting older, doesn't mean that I have to grow up anytime soon. So, I did what any 26-year-old would do, throw a themed birthday party with my family.

Make A Statement

Bomber jackets are back, and they are in! It's an old-school style that has made a huge comeback in the last little while. Everyone from celebrities to fashion bloggers and all the people in between owns one. My daddy even owns one. Granted, his is actually vintage and probably one of the first ones ever made, but you get my point. The best thing about bomber jackets is that they come in a wide range of patterns and colors. You can get a plain, solid one or step outside of your comfort zone and get one with a wild pattern. They are super light and perfect for the mild Winter we are having in the South right now, and they will be a great transition item for Spring.

New Memories With Old Friends

This past weekend, Alex and I got together with some of our old friends from high school, and we went out to eat and did a little bowling. For once, it took me forever to decide on an outfit. In the end, I actually went with Alex's suggestions. Looking back on the photos, I feel like I was channeling Harry Styles on the bottom half and Zoella and top half, but hey, it worked! I started out with my faux leather jacket, and then I just styled around it. The mustard striped shirt is from Old Navy, and I bought the scarf specifically to go with it from there also. So, when I decided to wear the striped shirt, I thought it would be fun to pair the femininity of the floral scarf with the edginess of the leather jacket. Then I just threw on some American Eagle skinny jeans and my favorite black ankle boots from Target.

Retelling The Ripper

In the foggy streets of Victorian London, a killer is lurking, and Audrey Rose Wadsworth is determined to find him. In a time of satin ball gowns and fanciful tea parties Audrey, a highborn young lady, studies the art of forensic science against the wishes of her protective father and the judging eyes of society. Her skills as a forensic pathologist soon drag her into the path of one of the most infamous serial killers in history, Jack The Ripper. As her investigation leads her closer and closer to The Ripper, Audrey soon realizes that Jack might have been closer to her than she realized all along.

A Harry Potter Christmas

Every year, Alex and I do a DIY photoshoot for our Christmas card, and this year we decided to do a Harry Potter theme. We are both huge Potterheads and have been massive fans of the series since we were in grade school. We even have a HP themed Christmas tree in our bedroom and Harry Potter tattoos. The only thing is, we are in separate houses, rival houses. You guessed it. He's a Slytherin, and I'm a Gryffindor. Needless to say, I thought this was a perfect opportunity for a "House Divided" Christmas card. Here are the photos from the shoot.

Making Mince Pies

I've got something sweet for y'all today! Since I am completely obsessed with all things to do with England, I decided that I was making some mincemeat pies this Christmas. Mince pies aren't really a huge thing here in the states, so you can't go to the grocery store and by pre-made mincemeat. So imagine my excitement when I found out that my mama and my aunt made some this Summer and canned it for the Winter. I don't think I have ever been so excited about jared fruit in my life!
